Attraction of National
Guitar Festival The National Guitar
Festival will be held for the first time in Vietnam at the Hanoi National
Conservatory of Music and the Hanoi Opera House from May 23-27 under the
sponsorship of the Spanish Embassy in Vietnam, the Vietnam Musicians’
Association, the Fund for Talent Development, the Hanoi National Conservatory
of Music and the Hanoi Television and Radio Station. The guitar has long been
a popular instrument in Vietnam. The festival is to select young guitar
talents. It will also be an occasion to examine performing skills of
professional and amateur guitarists and, at the same time, help and honour
young talents. This will be a good opportunity for musicians and guitar
lecturers to exchange their knowledge and skills in order to improve the
quality of music training. All under-32 Vietnamese
citizens or Vietnamese nationals living abroad who have at least
primary-level guitar skill or are introduced by prestigious guitarists can
register to take part in the festival. The festival will include
two events: classical guitar solo and guitar ensemble. The solo event will be
divided into two groups: group 1 includes under-16 soloists and group 2
includes those who are from 16 to 32 years old. Twenty guitarists who are
qualified for the finals will be granted commendation certificates and EUR 77
each. Ten guitarists included in the list of young talents will be presented
certificates, golden guitar Cup and UER 230. First rankers of the two events
will be honoured ‘Vietnamese young excellent talented guitarist’ and EUR 462.
The Fund for Talent Development will present golden symbol of Khue Van Cac to
the team who has most high prize winners. Lao Dong newspaper will give an
‘Energy’ prize to a poor guitarist who copes with his difficulties. In
addition, many other prizes will be presented by individuals and businesses.
The jury board will be well-known musicians and excellent guitar lecturers.
Professor and People’s Artist Trong Bang, secretary general of the Vietnam
Musicians’ Association, will be chairman of the board. The festival has received
response of a great variety of candidates throughout the country. Many famous
Vietnamese guitarists living abroad will take part in the festival and
perform at the ‘Guitar Love’ night at the Hanoi Opera House on May 27,
including Nguyen The An from Canada, and Dang Ngoc Long from Germany. "The National Guitar Festival is a
significant event in the guitar musical life in Vietnam. I have given
hundreds of performances in almost every country in Europe, but this time I
feel very happy to perform in the homeland after years of separation,"
said Dang Ngoc Long, president of the art council of the international guitar
festival in Germany. |
